Energy
and Infrastructure
Theory Intelligence provides energy companies, infrastructure investors, developers and utilities with verified primary research for market entry, offtake, technology and acquisition decisions: interviews with offtakers, developers, grid operators, former regulators and equipment buyers whose roles have been checked, with a signed recommendation and a provenance appendix.
- Market or counterparty Signal Brief: 6 to 8 verified offtakers, developers or operators in 10 business days, USD 7,500 to 12,000
- Investment or entry Decision Study: 15 to 30 verified stakeholders, 4 to 6 weeks, USD 25,000 to 75,000
- Technology diligence on storage, grid, hydrogen and efficiency vendors with no vendor relationships
- Policy and permitting context from verified former regulators and officials
- Standing regional or technology coverage through the Intelligence Retainer
A sector where the published view is often the promoter's view
Energy transition and infrastructure decisions are made in a fog of advocacy. Technology vendors publish learning curves. Developers publish pipelines. Consultancies publish scenarios paid for by one side of the argument. What is missing is the plain account from the people who buy the power, connect the asset, operate the plant or wrote the permitting rule. They rarely publish and they are careful about who they talk to.
Theory reaches these people, verifies that they are who they say they are, and reports what they said without a commercial stake in the outcome.
What we do in energy and infrastructure
Market entry and offtake
A Signal Brief with six to eight verified offtakers, traders or developers in a target market: whether there is real demand at the price, who else is competing for it, what the counterparty risk looks like from the inside.
Investment diligence
A Decision Study on a platform, a portfolio of assets or a technology company: fifteen to thirty verified interviews with customers, grid operators, suppliers, competitors and former regulators. The management case tested claim by claim.
Technology and vendor evaluation
Storage, grid software, hydrogen, efficiency and carbon accounting vendors make strong claims and control their references. Theory interviews verified current users and former buyers, with no vendor relationship, and signs the recommendation.
Policy and permitting
Former regulators, former officials and local stakeholders can explain how a rule is actually applied and how a permitting process actually runs. We recruit and verify them, and present them by former role unless they consent to be named.
Standing coverage
An Intelligence Retainer for an investor or developer covering a region or a technology: a monthly verified read on counterparties, policy and competitor activity.
Independence
Theory takes no fees from technology vendors, developers or trade bodies. When the evidence is against the thesis, the report says so, and the researcher signs it.

Questions from energy and infrastructure clients
Can you reach grid operators and regulators?
Current officials rarely participate and we do not press them. Former regulators, former operator staff and advisers to those bodies usually will, and we verify their former roles against public records.
Do you cover markets outside the United States and Europe?
Yes, through verified local researchers working under The Theory Standard. We tell you at scoping where reach is strong and where it is thin.
Can you assess a technology vendor's claims?
We interview verified current and former customers and, where useful, independent engineers who have tested the technology. We do not take a vendor's word and we have no vendor relationships.
