A relationship business with thin public evidence

Insurance is decided in conversations: between brokers and underwriters, between claims handlers and insureds, between carriers and the MGAs they back. Very little of that is written down anywhere a model can read it. Public data lags. Broker surveys have low response rates and are increasingly filled by whoever a panel can find. Analyst coverage focuses on the listed carriers. For a decision about a new distribution channel, a specialty product or a claims technology, the people who know are practitioners, and they have to be found, verified and asked.

What we do for insurance businesses

Distribution

Whether a new product will be placed depends on what brokers think of the carrier, the appetite and the service. A Signal Brief with six to eight verified brokers or agents in the target segment gives a signed read in ten business days.

Product and market entry

A Decision Study for a specialty line, a new geography or an embedded distribution partnership: fifteen to thirty verified interviews with brokers, competitors' customers, claims professionals and where relevant regulators or former regulators.

Claims and operations technology

Claims automation and AI underwriting tools are sold with strong claims and few independent references. Theory interviews verified current users at other carriers, with no vendor relationship, and signs the recommendation.

Standing intelligence

An Intelligence Retainer for an MGA, a carrier's specialty division or an investor in the sector: a monthly verified read on broker sentiment, competitor appetite and claims trends.

Verification in a regulated sector

Participants in insurance research often hold regulated roles. We verify role and organisation against professional registers and public records, record consent explicitly, and present participants by role and organisation type unless they have agreed to be named. The provenance appendix shows the verification method for every interview.

FAQ

Questions from insurance clients

Can you reach underwriters and claims leaders at specific carriers?

Usually, by direct recruitment. We tell you at scoping which roles we can reach and verify. We do not use panels or unverified expert network profiles.

Do you understand the regulatory constraints?

We design consent and presentation terms for regulated participants and hold recordings under the retention terms in the engagement agreement. Participants are presented by role unless they consent to be named.

Can you evaluate insurtech vendors?

Yes. Theory has no relationships with technology vendors. We interview verified current users of the tools under consideration and sign the recommendation.
